Who Am I?

My name is Kelly.

I’m American but I’ve been living in France since January 2000. I have a BA in French and a Masters level certificate in teaching English as a Second Language; I taught for seven years. I’ve chucked in teaching however, to become a full time Masters of Science in Marketing student.

I write two other blogs: Almost Frugal, on frugality for the rest of us, and Almost Frugal Food about, you guessed it, frugality and food.

Oh yeah. I also have three kids, three cats and one French husband.

In my spare time I design and create things for my Etsy shop, Babycat Goods, where I sell handcrafted solutions to the problem of baby stuff: baby blankets, diaper bags, spoon holders and more.

My blogging chops:

I started out as an avid blog-reader, and then became an avid blogger. What was just as a way to help me keep my budget on track quickly became a passion, and grew into Almost Frugal, a site about frugality for the rest of us. Almost Frugal has over 1000 subscribers and more than 18,000 visitors a month, numbers that are increasing every day. Along the way, I started Almost Frugal Food, where I talk about, you guessed it, food.

My blogging experience, both as a long-time blog reader and a successful blogger, has given me a keen understanding as to what does and does not work in a blog. I also have a strong background in language and editing, two areas which come in mighty handy in any writing activity. Not to mention that I cringe at bad writing and love to help writers craft a finely tuned phrase.

Mix the above together (and add a dash of know-it-all) and a blogging consultant is born.
